This summary is provided for convenience and accessibility. It is not a substitute for the full Terms below, which are the binding agreement between you and GIA Longevity US.

  • What this covers: These Terms explain how you may use gialongevity.us and our other digital services, including newsletters, events, research and reports, and coalition and partner programs.
  • Who we are: GIA Longevity US is a nonprofit organization working to reframe longer life as an economic and social opportunity. We are the United States chapter of the Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity.
  • Our content is educational: Everything we publish is for general information. It is not medical, financial, legal, employment, or caregiving advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional who knows your situation.
  • Your responsibilities: Use the site lawfully, do not misuse our content or tools, and do not submit harmful, infringing, or unauthorized material.
  • Your privacy: Your use of the site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we use it.
  • Third parties: Some features rely on outside services and platforms. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use those features.
  • Donations: Gifts to GIA Longevity US are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations are voluntary and, except as described below, non-refundable.
  • Disclaimers: The site is provided "as is," without warranties, and our liability is limited as described below.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

Welcome to gialongevity.us (the "Website"), operated by [GIA Longevity US, Inc.], a [Virginia] nonprofit corporation ("GIA Longevity US," "GIA," "we," "us," or "our").

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Website and all related digital properties that link to these Terms, including our microsites, landing pages, email newsletters, online forms, surveys, virtual and in-person event registration platforms, research libraries, toolkits, and any other online services we operate (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services.

2. About GIA Longevity US

GIA Longevity US is a nonprofit organization that brings together leaders across sectors to redesign society for longer lives. We are the United States chapter of the Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity ("Global GIA-L").

GIA Longevity US is a separate legal entity operating as a 501(c)(3) EIN 82-2995334. Global GIA -L is not responsible for the Services, and these Terms do not create any obligation on the part of Global GIA-L or any other GIA-L chapter.

References on the Services to our board members, advisory council members, coalition participants, corporate partners, funders, or featured experts do not make those individuals or organizations parties to these Terms and do not make them responsible for the Services.

3. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, post a notice on the Website or notify subscribers by email. Changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. Please review these Terms periodically.

We may also change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice.

4. Eligibility and Age Requirements

The Services are intended for a general adult audience. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or that you are between 13 and 17 years of age and are using the Services with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Services, please contact us at info@gialongevity.us so we can delete it.

You further represent that your access has not been previously suspended or terminated by us, and that you are not using another person's account without permission.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Services is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at https://gialongevity.us/privacy, which describes the information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in that policy.

Certain features, including donation forms, event registration, newsletter signup, surveys, and research downloads, require you to submit personal information. If you do not wish to provide that information, you may still use the general informational portions of the Services.

6. Educational Purpose; No Professional Advice

The content available through the Services is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

Nothing on the Services is, or should be relied upon as, medical, health, financial, investment, insurance, tax, legal, employment, benefits, caregiving, or other professional advice. Content addressing LifeSpan content including HealthSpan, WealthSpan, WorkSpan, CareSpan, or ThriveSpan topics, including aging, longevity, retirement planning, workforce participation, caregiving, and related subjects, is general in nature and does not account for your individual circumstances.

Always seek the advice of a qualified physician or other health provider with any questions regarding a medical condition, and consult a qualified financial, legal, benefits, or tax professional before making decisions in those areas. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read, heard, or seen on the Services.

We do not endorse, recommend, or warrant any specific product, service, provider, program, treatment, employer, benefit plan, or course of action that may be mentioned or described on the Services. Any reliance you place on the Services is at your own risk.

Where content includes statistics, projections, or research findings, those materials reflect the sources and methodologies described at the time of publication and may become outdated. We do not warrant that any content is current, accurate, or complete at any particular time.

7. Permitted Use and Limited License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services and to view, download, and print content from the Services for your personal, non-commercial, educational, research, policy, or advocacy use.

You may share, quote, and republish content from the Services that is expressly marked as available for redistribution, and you may quote limited excerpts of other content for commentary, news reporting, research, or advocacy, provided in each case that you:

  • attribute the material to GIA Longevity US and, where practical, include a link to the original page;
  • do not make editorial changes that alter the meaning of the material or misrepresent its original intent;
  • do not remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice; and
  • do not present the material in a way that suggests GIA Longevity US endorses you, your organization, or your product, service, or position.

When redistributing content marked for redistribution, please include the notice: "© [year] GIA Longevity US. Originally published at [URL]."

All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The Services are licensed to you, not sold. For permission to use content beyond the scope of this license, including any commercial use, contact us at info@gialongevity.us.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree that you will not:

  • use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable federal, state, local, or international law;
  • use the Services or any content for commercial purposes, including resale, sublicensing, private labeling, or co-branding, without our prior written permission;
  • use any robot, spider, scraper, crawler, script, or other automated means to access, copy, extract, or monitor any portion of the Services, or to circumvent their navigational structure;
  • use any content from the Services to train, fine-tune, or develop any artificial intelligence or machine learning model or system without our prior written permission;
  • harvest or collect email addresses, contact information, or personal information of other users or of individuals featured on the Services;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Services, any account, or any connected system or network, including by hacking or credential mining;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services or breach any security or authentication measure;
  • impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure, or interfere with the proper working of the Services or with any other user's use of them;
  • upload or transmit any virus, worm, trojan horse, or other harmful code;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works from the Services or any software underlying them;
  • remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice on the Services;
  • post advertising or solicitations for products or services;
  • frame, mirror, or reproduce an intact copy of any page of the Services within another site or service; or
  • use the Services in any manner that could damage, disparage, or otherwise harm GIA Longevity US, our partners, our coalition members, or the individuals and communities we serve.

9. Accounts, Registration, and Security

Some features, such as event registration, research libraries, partner portals, or subscriber-only resources, may require you to register and create credentials. If you register, you agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it current.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your credentials with anyone. Notify us immediately at info@gialongevity.us if you suspect unauthorized use.

You may not select or use credentials with the intent to impersonate another person, in violation of another person's rights, or that we determine in our discretion to be offensive or discriminatory. You have no ownership interest in your account or username, and we may modify, suspend, or delete accounts at any time, with or without notice.

10. Your Submissions

The Services may include comment areas, forms, surveys, story-collection tools, event Q&A, community features, and other opportunities for you to submit content, including text, feedback, testimonials, photographs, audio, and video (collectively, "Submissions").

You are solely responsible for your Submissions. By making a Submission, you represent and warrant that you own or have obtained all rights, licenses, consents, and releases necessary to grant the rights below, including, where your Submission depicts or identifies another person, that person's permission (or, for a minor, the permission of a parent or legal guardian).

You grant GIA Longevity US a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, fully sublicensable and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly display, publicly perform, create derivative works from, and distribute your Submission, in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed, in connection with our charitable, educational, advocacy, research, fundraising, and communications activities, without compensation or further notice to you.

You agree not to submit any material that:

  • is false, misleading, defamatory, libelous, obscene, vulgar, harassing, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable;
  • infringes or misappropriates any copyright, trademark, trade secret, publicity, privacy, or other right of any third party;
  • discloses another person's personal, health, or financial information without their consent;
  • harms minors or older adults, or promotes discrimination, ageism, or harassment of any individual or group;
  • encourages criminal conduct or would give rise to civil liability;
  • contains software viruses or other harmful code; or
  • constitutes advertising, spam, or solicitation.

We are not obligated to monitor Submissions, but we have the right to review, edit, refuse to post, or remove any Submission at any time, in our sole discretion, and to disclose Submissions as necessary to comply with law or a governmental request. We do not endorse and are not responsible for any Submission, and we do not treat Submissions as confidential or proprietary. Any ideas, concepts, proposals, or business information you send us, including by email or through a form, will not be treated as confidential, and we assume no obligation to protect or compensate you for them.

11. Intellectual Property and Trademarks

Except for content owned by third parties and used with permission, all content on the Services, including text, reports, research, frameworks, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, video, data compilations, and software, is owned or licensed by GIA Longevity US and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

"GIA Longevity," "Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity," "GIA Longevity US," "LifeSpan," and our related names, logos, taglines, and design elements are trademarks, service marks, or trade names of GIA Longevity US or its licensors, whether registered or unregistered (collectively, the "GIA Marks").

You may not use the GIA-L Marks without our prior written permission, except as permitted by applicable law, for example, to refer accurately to GIA Longevity US in news reporting, commentary, or academic work. You may not use the GIA-L Marks in a way that suggests sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or partnership that does not exist.

All other trademarks appearing on the Services are the property of their respective owners.

12. Media Assets, Logos, and Press Materials

If we grant you access to photographs, video, logos, or other brand or press materials (collectively, "Media Assets"), you may use them only to report on, publicize, or advance the mission of GIA Longevity US, and only in accordance with any brand guidelines or written permission we provide.

When using Media Assets, you agree that:

  • GIA Longevity US will be attributed as the source, and no copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice will be removed or altered;
  • Media Assets will not be modified, cropped, recolored, or composited except as we expressly authorize in writing;
  • Media Assets will not be reproduced or exploited for commercial gain;
  • your use will not be derogatory toward, or misrepresent, GIA Longevity US, our partners, our coalition members, or any individual depicted; and
  • you are responsible for obtaining any additional authorizations, consents, releases, or payments required by law or by contract in connection with your use.

You may not sublicense, assign, or transfer any permission we grant, and any attempted transfer is void. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GIA Longevity US, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from any loss, cost, damage, liability, expense, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising from your use of Media Assets in any manner not authorized by these Terms.

13. Donations and Contributions

GIA Longevity US is a nonprofit organization [described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN 82-2995334. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. We do not provide tax advice; please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of any gift.

By making a donation through the Services, you represent that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide and that the information you supply is accurate. Donations are processed by third-party payment providers, and your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies. We do not store full payment card numbers.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, all donations are voluntary and non-refundable. If you believe a gift was made in error or without authorization, contact us at info@gialongevity.us and we will review the request in good faith.

If you establish a recurring gift, you authorize us to charge your payment method on the schedule you select until you cancel. You may cancel at any time by contacting us at info@gialongevity.us or by using the link in your donation receipt.

We reserve the right to decline or return any contribution consistent with our gift acceptance policy. Restricted gifts will be used for the designated purpose; if that purpose becomes impractical, we may redirect the funds to a related use consistent with our mission and applicable law.

14. Events, Programs, and Convenings

The Services may allow you to register for convenings, summits, roundtables, webinars, and other programs, including the LifeSpan Summit. Additional terms, such as registration, cancellation, refund, and code-of-conduct terms, may apply and are incorporated into these Terms when posted.

Programs and speakers are subject to change. We may cancel, reschedule, or move an event to a virtual format, and our liability in that case is limited to a refund of any registration fee you paid.

Recording and photography. We and our authorized representatives may photograph, film, record, and livestream our events. By attending or participating, you consent to being recorded and grant us the right to use your name, likeness, image, voice, and statements in our communications, fundraising, research, and educational materials in any medium, worldwide, in perpetuity, without compensation. If you do not wish to be recorded, notify us in writing in advance at info@gialongevity.us and we will make reasonable accommodations.

You agree to abide by any code of conduct we publish for an event, and we may remove or exclude any participant whose conduct is disruptive, harassing, or otherwise inconsistent with our values.

15. Communications from Us

By providing your email address, mobile number, or mailing address through the Services, you consent to receive communications from GIA Longevity US, which may include newsletters, research and policy updates, event invitations, program information, and fundraising appeals.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any message or by contacting info@gialongevity.us. We may still send you transactional messages, such as donation receipts and event confirmations.

16. Partners, Sponsors, and Coalition Members

We work with corporate partners, funders, coalition members, and other collaborators. Their names, logos, and content may appear on the Services.

Recognition of a partner, sponsor, funder, or coalition member does not constitute an endorsement by GIA Longevity US of that organization's products, services, policies, or practices, and does not mean that the organization endorses, controls, or is responsible for the Services or for any position we take. Partners are not responsible for the accuracy of content on the Services, and we are not responsible for content, offers, or communications originating from a partner.

Any benefits, obligations, or rights associated with a partnership are governed by the separate written agreement between GIA Longevity US and that partner, not by these Terms.

17. Third-Party Content, Links, and Services

The Services may contain links to, or embedded content from, third-party websites, platforms, and services, including analytics providers, video platforms, payment processors, email and event platforms, cloud hosting providers, and social media networks.

We provide these links and integrations for information and convenience. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, availability, products, services, policies, or practices of any third party. When you interact with third-party content or services, their terms of service and privacy policies apply in addition to ours. Accessing third-party sites and services is at your own risk, and we encourage you to review their terms before using them.

18. Linking to Our Services

You may link to the Services provided that you do so in a way that is fair, accurate, and not misleading, that clearly indicates the link leads to GIA Longevity US, and that does not suggest an affiliation or endorsement that does not exist. You may not frame or otherwise incorporate the Services in a way that could confuse visitors about the origin of the content. We may require you to remove any link at any time.

19. Accessibility

GIA Longevity US is committed to making the Services usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and people of every age. We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) [2.1] Level [AA] and continue to improve the accessibility of our digital properties.

20. Monitoring, Suspension, and Termination

We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor use of the Services and any Submissions to determine compliance with these Terms and to satisfy any law, regulation, or authorized governmental request.

We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Services at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including a violation of these Terms. You may terminate these Terms at any time by ceasing to use the Services. Upon termination, the licenses granted to you end immediately and you must cease all use of content obtained from the Services.

22. Disclaimer of Warranties

You expressly agree that your use of the Services is at your sole risk. The Services and all content, materials, and features available through them are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GIA Longevity US and its licensors and service providers disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and quality or accuracy of information.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the Services free of harmful components, but we do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Services or the servers that make them available are free of viruses or other harmful elements. You are responsible for maintaining your own virus protection and security measures.

We are not responsible for the conduct of other users or third parties, including any defamatory, offensive, or unlawful conduct, and the risk of harm from that conduct rests entirely with you.

23. Limitation of Liability

GIA Longevity US makes reasonable efforts to ensure that its Digital Properties are free of harmful components (e.g., viruses, malware). However, we do not guarantee that GIA Longevity US Digital Properties are free from errors, viruses, or other destructive elements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will GIA Longevity US or its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, licensors, or service providers be liable to you or any third party for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages including damages arising out of your use or inability to use GIA Longevity US digital properties, including but not limited to errors, interruptions, or viruses.

24. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GIA Longevity US and its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents, from and against any claims or damages arising from your use of this website or violation of these terms.

25. International Users

The Services are controlled and operated from the United States and are intended for users in the United States. We make no representation that the Services or their content are appropriate or available for use outside the United States.

If you access the Services from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with applicable local laws, including laws governing online conduct and content and United States export control laws. References on the Services to programs, products, or services of GIA Longevity US or Global GIA-L do not imply that they are available in your country.

26. Additional Terms

Additional terms and conditions may apply to specific programs, events, research projects, campaigns, surveys, sweepstakes, contests, training, coalition participation, or registered areas of the Services. Those terms are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If there is a conflict between these Terms and terms posted for a specific portion of the Services, the specific terms control as to that portion.

28. General

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and GIA Longevity US regarding the Services and supersede all prior communications on the subject.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision or of any subsequent breach.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights under them. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create any rights in favor of any person or entity other than you and GIA Longevity US.

Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.

Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

29. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Notice

If you believe content on this website infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice to our designated agent by email at info@gialongevity.us:
